Forgiveness Continued...
As we celebrate the wonderful fifty days of Easter with the joy of knowing that the Christ who died is the Christ who now lives and reigns forever, we never forget the price Jesus paid, that of His life. In thankfulness for His sacrifice we remain busy in doing the work of the Lord in both school and church and beyond as we respond to the eternity of the Easter message.

I was looking through my concordance at the end of my study Bible. I took the time to count the occurrence of the words "forgiveness, Forgive, forgiving, etc." and the words "admonish" and "correct." The totals are these: forgiveness related words total 96 in the concordance; admonish and correct total 28. I am not at all surprised. However the Evil One wants us to concentrate on the 28 more than the 96. There is a point for the 28 but the final word that needs to come from members of Immanuel must relate to forgiveness. The whole theme of the Gospel message is that of forgiveness of sins and life now and forever.

Check out the ratio you are using when it comes to the 28 or the 96. Use this Easter season to help you abound in forgiveness and to lessen the times that admonish and correct govern your life. We all need both, but I say again, "Forgiveness must be greater than admonishment and correction."

Here are but three portions from the Bible about forgiveness:

1.  Matthew 6:14: For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

2.  Matthew 18:21-35: 21) Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, "Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times? 22) Jesus answered, "I tell you, not seven times but seventy-seven times." 34) In anger his master turned him over to the jailers to be tortured, until he pay back all he owed. 35) This is how my heavenly Father will treat each of you unless you forgive your brother from your heart.

3.  Luke 23:34: Jesus said, "Father, forgive them for they know not what they are doing."

Have a wonderful Easter! Let the Holy Spirit work in each of us as we continue with the ministry we are all a part of here at Immanuel School and Church. He is risen! He is risen indeed! Alleluia! In Easter celebration,

New Chaplain
On Sunday, April 20th, at 3 :00 Pastor James Mueller will be installed as the chaplain of Heisinger Bluffs here in Jefferson City. He will be helping with ministry there and the other nursing homes in the Jefferson City area. Look for further information in the bulletins around that date in April.
